A Historic Shift In Royal Protocol

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Children Granted Royal Titles

A Historic Shift in Royal Protocol

Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana Recognized by the Royal Family

In a break from tradition, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two children, Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana, have been granted official royal titles by the Royal Family. The update was made on the Royal Family's official website, marking the first time that the couple's children have been referred to with royal designations.

The decision to bestow royal titles on Archie and Lilibet is a significant departure from the established protocol, which generally limits the use of such titles to the children and grandchildren of the reigning monarch. However, it aligns with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's desire for their children to grow up with the same level of protection and respect afforded to other members of the Royal Family.

Archie, who was born in May 2019, will now officially be known as Prince Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. Lilibet, who was born in June 2021, will be known as Princess Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. The titles are expected to be used in official capacities and will reflect the children's status as members of the British royal family.
