Ben & Jerry’s Founders Not Afraid of Backlash to Kamala Harris Support

Ben & Jerry’s Co-Founder Ben Cohen Says He Would Back Harris if She Ran for President

The ice cream maker has been outspoken in its support for progressive causes

Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen said he would support Kamala Harris if she ran for president in 2020. Cohen, a longtime supporter of progressive causes, said he was impressed by Harris’s record as a prosecutor and senator.

“She’s a strong and experienced leader who I believe would be a great president,” Cohen said. “She’s also someone who shares our values on social justice and economic equality.”

Harris has not yet announced whether she will run for president, but she is considered a potential frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. She is the first woman and the first African American to serve as California’s attorney general. She is also the first woman to represent California in the U.S. Senate.

Ben & Jerry’s has a long history of supporting progressive causes. The company has donated millions of dollars to organizations working on issues such as climate change, criminal justice reform, and voting rights.

Cohen said he believes that Harris would continue to be a strong advocate for progressive causes if she were elected president. “She’s someone who has always fought for what she believes in,” he said. “I’m confident that she would continue to do that as president.”

Harris’s support for progressive causes has been praised by some and criticized by others. Some people have accused her of being too liberal, while others have said that she is not progressive enough.

Cohen said he believes that Harris is a “pragmatic progressive” who is able to find common ground with people who have different views. “She’s someone who is willing to work with anyone to get things done,” he said. “I think that’s what we need in a president.”

If Harris does run for president, she will face a crowded field of Democratic candidates. However, she is considered to be one of the frontrunners for the nomination. Cohen said he believes that Harris has the experience, the qualifications, and the values to be a successful president.

“She’s a smart, tough, and compassionate leader,” he said. “I’m confident that she would be a great president for all Americans.”
